custom air force pvc patches

Custom US Air Force PVC Patches

We manufacture custom PVC patches for active duty USAF personnel, Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) units, and Air National Guard (ANG) squadrons. Wing patches, squadron patches, morale patches, deployment patches, rank insignia — if it goes on a uniform or tactical gear, we make it in PVC.

PVC outlasts embroidered patches in the conditions Air Force personnel work in. It holds color through repeated laundering, holds shape through field use, and reproduces fine unit insignia detail that embroidery struggles to match.

Types of Air Force PVC Patches

Explore the diverse types of patches worn by the USAF personnel, including:

Morale Patches

Unofficial unit identity patches worn on tactical gear, hats, and jackets. Hook & Loop backing makes them easy to swap between pieces of gear or rotate by deployment.

Combat Unit Patches

Squadron and wing identification patches for those who have served in combat operations. We can reproduce your unit’s existing design in PVC or develop a new design from your reference artwork.

Rank Insignia Patches

Marks of leadership and responsibility reproduced in durable molded rubber. PVC holds edge detail on chevrons, stars, and officer insignia more consistently than embroidery over time.

Specialization Patches

Indicators of specific qualifications, roles, or skills within the Air Force. These often involve complex insignia: PVC’s high-definition molding handles small lettering and intricate design elements that would be illegible in embroidered thread.

Deployment Patches

Each USAF squadron and wing issues unique patches to identify deployments. Deployment patches often go on tactical gear and jackets: Hook & Loop backing is standard for these so patches can be moved between assignments.

Design Options

Perfect for both active duty members and veterans, our durable and vibrant patches embody the courage and commitment of all who serve under the USAF, AFRC, and ANG banners. Join us in commemorating your achievements and the brotherhood of the skies with patches that stand the test of time.

Color matching

We match your artwork to PMS colors. If your unit requires specific camouflage patterns (MultiCam, ACU, Coyote, Desert) specify that when requesting your quote and we’ll match to your uniform’s pattern.

2D and 3D Design

2D patches have flat molded color separation with sharp borders. 3D patches add dimensional relief (raised lettering, layered elements, beveled borders). Both reproduce fine detail and small text accurately. An intricate insignia design that would be barely legible in embroidery is readable and sharp in PVC.

Shape

Any shape is possible. The standard circle-with-rockers is deeply rooted in military tradition and we produce it regularly, but custom shapes, shield formats, and irregular unit insignia outlines are all achievable.

Backing Options

Hook & Loop is the most common choice for Air Force patches, it allows patches to be moved between a uniform, a jacket, and tactical gear without re-sewing. Sew-on, iron-on, and adhesive backing are also available.

Money-Saving Tip for Unit Orders

If your unit wants the same patch design in two colorways (a full-color version and a subdued or multicam version) you pay one mold fee and produce both from the same mold. One mold, two color sets, significant savings on per-unit cost. Mention this when requesting your quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do Air Force patches mean?

USAF patches represent rank, unit affiliation, mission role, and deployment history. They identify personnel within the military structure and carry the insignia of the wing, group, or squadron the wearer belongs to.

Does the US Air Force have deployment patches?

Yes. Each squadron and wing issues patches specific to deployments. These are typically worn on tactical gear with Hook & Loop backing so they can be updated as assignments change.

What is your minimum order?

50 pieces. Best pricing starts at 100 pieces.

Can you help with artwork preparation?

Yes. If you don’t have production-ready artwork, we can prepare it from your reference images or existing patch designs. Artwork preparation is quoted as an additional line item, ask about it when you request pricing.

Are your patches iron-on?

Iron-on backing is available. Hook & Loop is more common for military applications because it allows patches to move between gear. Specify your backing preference when requesting a quote.

What is the history of USAF Patches?

The history of USAF patches is deeply rooted in military tradition and pride. Originating in 1907 with the Aeronautical Division of the Signal Corps, the patches underwent several changes reflecting the evolution and eventual independence of the Air Force. During World War II, the US Army Air Forces (USAAF) introduced two main types of patches: large, painted leather jacket patches and smaller, embroidered shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI). The transformation from the USAAF to the USAF was formalized with the signing of the National Security Act of 1947, officially establishing the Air Force on September 18, 1947. Modern USAF patches, worn by active duty, reserve, and National Guard personnel, vary from vivid, colorful designs to more subdued versions, according to the uniform and occasion. The design and approval process for these patches is governed by Air Force Instruction (AFI) 84-105, ensuring each patch upholds the tradition and values of the Air Force.
